Our Tour Guide will show you the back way to beautiful Mount Mee State Forest which is located approx. 60 km north west of Brisbane at the northern end of the D'Aguilar Range . Along the way we will stop at the Mt. Mee look out and enjoy the magnificent views of the Glass House Mountains and all the way to the coast.
Let's explore Mount Mee's beautiful open forests, scribbly gum forests, rainforest remnants, hoop pine plantations and picturesque creek scenery with an option of 2 walks.
Option 1 The Piccabeeen Walk
It's a 1km circuit ideal for any age and fitness level. An easy stroll which takes approx. 20 minutes. After the Piccabeen walk our Tour Guide will take you for a four wheel drive off the beaten track to a lookout to enjoy the magnificent views over Lake Somerset and Wivenhoe Dam.
Option 2 The Somerset Trail
This is a 13km bushwalk which takes approx. 3.5 to 4 hrs. It is not recommended for young children and requires a medium to good fitness level. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. Along the way we will explore the mysterious grove of tall piccabeen palms, enjoy magnificent views over Lake Somerset and Wivenhoe Dam.
After our walk we will have a well deserved picnic at the Gantry picnic area where you can see the remains of the old sawmill which operated here until 1981. Toilets, picnic tables, barbecues, and water are provided but please bring you own lunch. We will finish this great day out with an optional wine tasting at Delaney Creek before returning home to Brisbane. A fun day out for the whole family or for the serious bushwalkers.
