After thousands of kilometres and 4 weeks on the road it is good to be back home. I love travelling through the Australian Outback and this trip was unlike any other. I have never seen it so green and full of wild flowers. The rain caught up with us a few times - flooding roads and turning the red dust into red mud... All part of the adventure 😉 The customer feedback was phenomenal, most of them plan to book next years tour 👍

Over a period of 2 ½ weeks and 4500km of harsh

Over a period of 2 ½ weeks and 4500km of harsh terrain we have truly put our JXM-1 camper through the wringer. This 8x4 off road camper trailer was custom built for us by @downunderfabtrailersandrepairs (100% aussiemade)
The trailer is fitted with a 6 leaf spring suspension and AT Tyres –easily managed the gravel and corrugations to Birdsville and the even harsher track towards Innamincka without any bouncing or swaying.
The sides of the trailer are 45cm high which gives you ample of room for storage. The hinged lid (on which the roof top tent is mounted) has gas struts allowing easy access to the storage underneath.
Both the tailgate and the hinged lid have an adhesive strip which worked outstanding to keep the dust at bay – compared to some fellow campers who had half a sand dune in there. The tent is a Dune 4WD Nomad tent – it sets up and folds down in seconds.
The trailer is also fitted with an electric brake system which worked a treat especially in the Dunes.
Over all we are extremely happy with our JXM Camper and can highly recommend the camper and the manufacturer Down Under Fab Trailers and Repairs. Robbie and his team are absolutely great to work with.
We can’t wait to introduce our new off road itinerary for 2022 !

We will be expanding our 2022 tour itineraries by adding a guided 4x4 tour from Brisbane to Birdsville. It will be light off road only (gravel), include several of the most iconic outback pubs and some Farmstays. Down under Fab has custom built this off road trailer for us which will be put to the test in September. Watch this space for some updates and photos
